International Photojournalism, documentary and travel photography
International Photojournalism, Documentary and Travel Photography
Designed for postgraduate students who wish to pursue a career in international photojournalism, documentary or travel photography, this course explores issues of photographic culture, image economies and visual representation and applies them through a series of practical assignments. The course is designed to be accessible to professional photographers and photo educators studying through a hybrid of online and centre based study.

Entry Requirements

You will be required to present a portfolio of photography and examples of written work, to be discussed/assessed at interview, demonstrating your suitability and aptitude for the course.

You should offer one of the following:

  • A first or upper second BA (Hons) Photography, or
  • BA (Hons) in any subject and two years professional experience in the industry, or
  • a first or upper second BA (Hons) in a related subject with a major project in photography

Special consideration will be given to candidates who do not have these qualifications but who have significant experience in the field of photography and are able to present a strong portfolio as part of their application.

Full-time

How is the course offered?
Students have the choice of basing their studies at one of two learning centres, one in Bolton, UK, the other in Dalian, China. Those who choose Dalian have the option of completing parts of the course online. The course is delivered through a combination of weekly seminars, intensive workshops and online teaching reflecting communication methods used in the modern industry. The programme is supported by group discussions and individual tutorials.

The next course will start January 2009.
