MA Student on Pavillion Shortlist

UK cohort student Simon Bowcock has been short listed for the Pavilion Commissions Programme 2007. Through its Commissions Programme, Pavilion collaborates with artists to create and exhibit new work. ....More details here.

Vicki Goldberg Lectures In Dalian

Acclaimed photography academic Vicki Goldberg came to the University in Dalian in May to give a lecture based on her book The Power of Photography and run a seminar with the Photo MA students. Goldberg has written numerous influential books on photography and was a lead consultant in the BBC six part series The Decisive Moment.

Bendiksen Win's National Magazine Award

Jonas Bendiksen, one of Magnum's younger members, has won the National Magazine Award for his beautiful project "Kibera" which was originally published in the Paris Review.

There are more images from the series on the Magnum website and Earlier in the year he did a story on Dharavi, Mumbai's largest slum for National Geographic.

China TV Film Ex Photo MA Student

China 2006 cohort student Zhao Xin is to be the subject of a CCTV 10 documentary for her own documentary photography work on the human body. Filming will start in June and the programme aired nationally later in the year.

Photo MA Student wins £24,000 Grant

Bolton cohort graduate Simon Webb has won a £24,000 grant to work on a photographic documentary project of the reconstruction of Morecambe's famous art deco hotel The Midland. The funding comes mainly from ACE with a top up from the local council. Simon is now seeking further private investment into the one year project.
